Social Media & Community Manager / Content Creator
Location: New York City preferred
Work Style: Primarily remote with occasional NYC content capture
Type: Freelance / Contract
Brand: SYRCLE | NYC Women’s Social Club
Pilot: 30 days
Compensation: $20 to $25/hour, up to 20 hours during the initial pilot
About SYRCLE
SYRCLE is a new NYC-based women’s social club focused on helping women build genuine friendships and community through curated, recurring in-person experiences.
We are currently in our pre-launch stage and preparing for our first events. We’re looking for a creative, highly social-media-savvy person who can help us build SYRCLE’s online presence and, most importantly, begin building an actual community around the brand.
This is not simply a content-posting role.
We’re looking for someone who understands how to combine content strategy, strong creative execution, proactive community building, and organic growth.
What You’ll Do
Content Strategy & Creative
* Develop strategic content concepts that give women a reason to follow SYRCLE beyond event promotion
* Establish content pillars around friendship, community, NYC lifestyle, social experiences, activities, events, and other relevant topics
* Develop engaging and culturally relevant concepts designed for conversation, shares, saves, discovery, and community participation
* Create recurring content series that can become recognizable parts of the SYRCLE brand
* Identify trends and conversations that can be adapted naturally to SYRCLE
* Help develop and maintain a simple content calendar
* Adjust content strategy based on what is actually resonating with the audience
Content Creation
* Create aesthetically strong Reels, carousels, graphics, Stories, and other social content
* Edit short-form video content
* Write natural, engaging social copy and hooks
* Repurpose strong concepts across multiple platforms rather than simply copying and pasting identical content
* Maintain a cohesive, modern visual identity across SYRCLE’s social presence
Community Building & Organic Growth
This is a major part of the role.
You’ll be expected to actively help find and build SYRCLE’s community, not simply post content and wait for people to discover us.
This includes:
* Proactively identifying NYC women who fit SYRCLE’s target community
* Finding relevant conversations around adult friendship, making friends in NYC, activities, loneliness, community, social life, wellness, hobbies, and things to do
* Engaging naturally in relevant conversations
* Participating in relevant Threads communities
* Starting conversations from the SYRCLE account
* Engaging with complementary NYC creators, businesses, communities, and accounts
* Responding thoughtfully to comments and community interactions
* Helping turn online awareness into followers, community members, and ultimately event attendees
Primary Platforms
The initial pilot will focus primarily on:
Instagram
Threads
TikTok
LinkedIn
Each platform should be used strategically based on how people actually interact with it rather than treated identically.
NYC Content Creation
SYRCLE is an in-person NYC community, so NYC-based candidates are strongly preferred.
The role may occasionally include local content capture, such as:
* NYC lifestyle and community footage
* Street interviews
* Event-related content
* Behind-the-scenes footage
* Capturing original social-first content around the city
For example, future street-interview concepts may center around questions such as how New Yorkers met their closest friends, the challenges of making friends as an adult, and what women are looking for socially in NYC.
Comfort approaching and interviewing people on camera is a plus, but not required.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has a strong eye for modern, polished social content
* Thinks strategically about why content would perform, not simply what to post
* Understands organic community growth and proactive engagement
* Can develop interesting content concepts without needing every idea provided to them
* Understands the difference between community building and simply responding to comments
* Is comfortable starting with a brand that has little existing audience or original event content
* Understands Instagram, Threads and TikTok particularly well
* Can write engaging, conversational social copy
* Understands how to turn one strong idea into multiple pieces of platform-appropriate content
* Is resourceful, proactive, creative, and comfortable experimenting
* Understands or is interested in NYC culture, women’s lifestyle, community, wellness, events, and friendship
Experience with social clubs, community brands, lifestyle brands, wellness, hospitality, events, fashion, beauty, or other consumer-facing brands is a plus.
Compensation
$20 to $25/hour depending on experience and fit.
The initial engagement is a 30-day freelance pilot with a maximum of 20 hours total.
Maximum pilot compensation will therefore be $400 to $500, depending on the agreed hourly rate.
Any additional hours must be approved in writing in advance.
The pilot will help determine whether there is a strong fit for continued work as SYRCLE grows.
To Apply
Please include:
1. 2 to 3 social media accounts you have personally worked on, including what you personally handled for each
2. Examples of your strongest Reels, carousels, graphics, or other social content
3. Any measurable organic growth, engagement, or community-building results you’ve contributed to
4. A brief explanation of how you would approach building a brand-new NYC women’s social club from zero
5. Three sample content concepts you would create for SYRCLE during the 30-day pilot. For each, briefly include the concept/hook, format/platform, and what you would want the content to accomplish. Please note that SYRCLE is currently pre-launch, so concepts should not depend on existing event footage.
6. A brief explanation of how you would proactively find and engage potential SYRCLE community members online
7. Whether you are currently based in NYC and whether you would be comfortable with occasional local content capture
8. Confirmation that you have reviewed and are comfortable with the $20 to $25/hour rate and 20-hour maximum for the initial 30-day pilot
Please do not apply if your experience is limited to creating graphics, writing captions, or scheduling posts. Strategy and proactive organic community building are core responsibilities of this role.
Selected candidates will be contacted regarding next steps.
